Very interesting how they would infuse Ms. Marvel mantel with the personality of each of Kamala's friends. This is part of the 'Legacy' imprint Marvel had done which is quite a good idea of how being a hero is not about the person but the essence of that being's presence. That it's the act itself and not her being necessarily present. And that saving the world, or Jersey City, doesn't need to be a one-person task. Even in being a superhero, your friends always have your back.

I think this is the only time I've actually enjoyed when a series pulls the protag off the front lines and they "disappear" temporarily. 10000/10, G. Willow Wilson.

I still love the art and characters...but it doesn't have Ms. Marvel in it for about half of the volume? It didn't quite feel the same without her, I'm glad to see the other characters shine a bit though. I was hoping to see Kamala on her own? Instead, she gets promptly put back in. It's still a good volume..and oh! hey! Bruno is back!

I have a booktube channel now! Subscribe here.

I love seeing Kamala's friends take on a more active role, as this series really has some strong secondary characters. The focus on Kamala's personal relationships is great. I'm swooning over Red Dagger and I'm happy she and Bruno get to reunite...but I hate that we just get quick rehashes of several old villains here. The action kind of sucked.

I'm slowly becoming more disenchanted with this series. Am I too old? Am I just annoyed with her teenaged antics? Am I the person yelling at kids to get off my lawn? Whatever the case, this ninth installment wasn't for me. Ms. Marvel wasn't even in the firs half! She peaced out, because life was stressing her out too much and her friends tried picking up the slack by pretending to be her, but that's kind of hard to do when you don't have superpowers. Also included are some "complicated" teenaged love triangles. Overall, it was just ok.

It's been a minute since I last read a Ms. Marvel so I felt like I was missing a lot when the book referred to previous plot points. I just looked at my other reviews and it turns out the Inventor was in the previous book.
I loved the Inventor's stupid inventions - fruit robot? Yes please!
Because I did not read or, at minimum, did not remember Kamala's leave of absence, some of the major points were missing for me. I still "got" what was going on but it was a bit of a "uh....o.k."
Anything Ms. Marvel-wise that winds up on my public library's shelves, I'm up for it. Even with the plot holes (which, again, only have to do with my gaps).

While Bruno does reappear in this volume, Ms. Marvel is absent for the first three issues. When she returns, there are romantic sparks and the return of some thought-to-be-neutralized villains. But, while all the pieces were there, my original excitement over this series just wasn’t felt. I am sad G. Willow Wilson is moving on to other projects as I love Ms. Marvel but maybe it is a good thing??? Maybe a new creative team will bring back the “cannot wait for the next issue” passion I felt initially?
