Finding Our Forever is a great tender, feel-good romance!

Cora moves to Silver Springs for a new job...and to meet her birth-mother. She tried to deny the attraction she felt for Eli from day one, but it's not long before both of them realize they cannot deny their feelings.

Eli has a past that doesn't seem to want to let him move on, and others have pasts that could destroy the lives they've made...or could they?

I won a Kindle copy of Finding Our Forever as a First Read on Goodreads, but I also purchased a copy on Amazon (I regularly do this to show my review as a verified purchase).

I have never been let down by a Brenda Novak noval, and was glad this one followed suit!

Not having been adopted (or even been close to anyone that I knew was adopted) it is hard to imagine what kind of questions Cora has about herself. To finally be able to put that restlessness behind her is a temptation she can't pass up. Eli comes from kinda the opposite point - he knows where he came from, it just isn't a happy place. Their pasts have left both of them with some baggage that they have to figure out how to handle. Baggage that is only complicated when they start to fall for each other, thanks to their ties to Aiyana.

This is not the first of Novak's books I've read ... and it DEFINITELY won't be the last. I love how she somehow makes Finding Our Forever real and pretty drama-free, but still engrossing. There is so much growth and discovery for both Cora and Elijah and yet when everything comes to a head they don't let things overwhelm them. It would have been so easy for Novak to have them weighted down with hurt feelings and damaged pride, but instead they handle things with grace and sensitivity. There are so many possible options for where to go with future books and, as a fan of damaged heroes, I'm looking forward to all the possibilities!

Pleasantly surprised

I don't read much (any) contemporary romance because the little I have read has such crappy character development. This book has a full cast of characters, none of whom are cardboard. It was quite a fun overnight read. I'll probably read the next one too.

Somehow I was unaware that this was SUCH a romance novel. I assumed some romance, but that was like the main purpose (think detailed love scenes). The book wasn't bad, just not my cup of tea. Some of the scenes felt very rushed & some subject matter not explored.

I did not like this book.

The romance was not done well. We knew next to nothing about Eli—and so did Cora, by the way—and yet Cora… fell in love with him? What?

We literally learned NOTHING about Eli as a person, other than the fact that he dedicated his life to running the school. That’s it. We never even learned about his past, other than a few bits here and there. That’s fucking it. Like… huh?? You would have thought the author would make it part of his character growth by GRADUALLY opening up to Cora, bit by bit, until we finally got to know the whole picture of him as a person. But NO. NOTHING OF THE SORT. Bro, he might as well have been a fucking extra instead of a MAIN character.

Another great story from Brenda Novak

Absolutely loved this book. Could not put it down. Can't wait to find out about the other characters in town.
