Good book with a lot of historical background. A great book if you study the Middle Ages.

I thought I might have read this earlier and I have but can't honestly recall.
I listened to this which is always fund when the narrator has a proper English accent.
If you are student of European history, this is a treasure trove on the 14th century in general and 100 years war in particular, focusing on a few key personages.
If, however you are a student of world history, this is possibly not your cup of tea. For one, they make some errors like calling Tamerlane a Mongol. For another while the analysis and comparison to WWI and WWII is a valid one, it leaves out a bit of the rest of the world in the analysis. I did think that looking to an event like the Avignon Papacy as the precursor to the Reformation was solid.
