I read this book in college, and while it was indeed rambling and sometimes incoherent, I found that I enjoyed the topic. In general I am not a fan of Wurtzel's work, I couldn't finish Prozac Nation, but the premise of this book and the choice of women kept me with this one until the end. This probably could have been handled better by another author, but it worked well as an introduction to the idea that "difficult" women as being worthy of more than being written off.
slow-paced

What a slog. Really repetitive and focused on just a few main topics (pop culture events?) in 400+ pages. Sure there were some good points and quips, but many more times I wondered why I was reading this.

I enjoyed this book even though it was sometimes hard to follow. Apparently it was written in a "speedy Kerouacesque drug binge". It shows, as it's not especially fluid and tends to go all over the place. It was still a very interesting essay and I'm glad to have read it. I'm a big fan of Wurtzel despite her being extremely opinionated and sometimes off the mark. She's entertaining and obviously very smart even if you don't agree with her.
