I've been in the mood for memoirs lately, so while at the library I took a stroll past the biography section and this title caught my eye. I felt spontaneous and adventurous. I was actually going to check a book out from the library without looking it up on Goodreads first.

Sadly, within a few chapters I felt bored and frustrated. "Cursed by a Happy Childhood" is a nostalgic look back for a father as he ponders what he should teach his daughter from his own past. In theory, it's kind of a cool idea. However Carl Lennertz's writing wasn't good enough to carry it off. The tone was pendantic and slightly patronizing. His reminiscences were flat and boring. Thank goodness it was a short book or I might have had to quit reading it. Definitely, not worth the read.
