I have FINALLY finished this book- it has been the most tragic journey that has left me with the sense of catharsis so large i have a migraine and i need a sleep. Doing this for alevel has taught me a lot about endurance and perseverance but in all honesty this book was incredible- the psychological context and the constant questions i had throughout the book was enjoyable in a weird sense!!? The secondary plot was refreshing during the frustration and anger with Lear and added even more to the book. Even though i liked it i’m so glad i never have to read this book again!

I learned that screwed up families come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. And they have been around for hundreds of years. If you think your family is messed up, this book will give you a good dose of perspective.

Definitely a Shakespeare tragedy. Though chaotic at times, the twists and turns towards the end of the book were a little predictable. However, I felt like I could understand the meaning behind the play especially when learning about the backstories behind the characters… Edgar, Cordelia, and the Fool were my favorite.
