These short stories are easy to read and nice. Katherine Heiny is able to take the time to describe things beautifully while also pushing the stories forward. Most of the stories rely on flashbacks which are braided into present day and sort of unpeel as you read. I felt many of the narrators were unlikeable. There was a constant theme of infidelity and a few stories with sexual assault. Most of the relationships were between young women and older men. The trend became sort of exhausting, which I think was the point. There were also several descriptions of fat people that made it uncomfortable to read as a fat person- nothing obviously problematic but lots of little negative descriptions or uncompassionate assumptions about fat peoples motives.
