I read this out of curiosity - and thought it was fine. Fans of the podcast will definitely appreciate it!

You know what? Solid ass shit! I hate the dude and I dont think the husband arc was crazy good, but other than shit side characters, it was a banger.

A good suspenseful thriller to kick off beach-reading season and an impressive first go at writing crime fiction - I devoured it in one sitting!

I really enjoyed this first novel and cannot wait for more!!! I liked the first hand knowledge that Alaina uses when referring to the medical examiner details and her extensive knowledge of serial killers is very evident when she weaves their heinous crimes into this story so effortlessly.

Cannot wait for all the other books that will come!!!!

I REALLY wanted to love this book. I love the authors podcast and so really wanted to love this book.
There were too many in depth references to serial killers (I can understand one but there was 4 in the first 16 chapters). The ending was anticlimactic and gave no closure are all. It doesn’t even leave me wanting the next book (that it is clearly set up for).
That said the plot idea was good, just not well written.
Overall it seemed not well put together and too rushed.

It was difficult to read, some parts were choppy. Felt like information was just tossed at me and didn’t blend well with the story telling. Once I got to the action part and twist I kept reading. There’s definitely a cliffhanger, I would read the next book just to know what happens. Love her for sure just expecting better for the next one.

2.5 stars.
