Totally gory but a great read overall! I do think this book should come with some kind of trigger warning; although from the blurb you can foresee what may be included some of the descriptions of the events that take place are quite graphic at times. For me this was a super quick read. I was instantly intrigued as to whether the butcher would be detained and was definitely not expecting that ending! As a whole I enjoyed the writing of this author although I did think the twist regarding Wren was poorly explained; I lost the timeline for a little while as I couldn’t tell what was past or present.

Rounded up from 3.5.

Quite well-written! It's interesting how the butcher's perspective was shared and explored; feel like I've not seen that a lot before. Twist did surprise me. I feel ambiguous about the ending, but understand why it was what it was.

I'm weirdly dissatisfied with the horror level. I was scared it would be too much for me to read, but it wasn't. Maybe recently reading books by an ME, a forensic pathologist, and a forensic anthropologist made think more clinically?

Anywhozzle, I'd read a sequel.

I wanted to really like this book. The story itself was an interesting premise, but the writing wasn’t enjoyable to me and I didn’t think there was enough character development to be invested in the story and Wren herself. The ending wasn’t enough for me either, I was hoping for a clear conclusion—2 1/2 stars.
