I would give it five stars if it weren’t for the ending but I’m looking forward to book #2
This was hard for me to get into right away because of the back and forth pov but really did pick up towards the last half

very very good book. quick read for sure. i just wasn’t convinced by the story line and found some parts of the serial killer to be nonsensical
I was expecting this to be another "meh at best" cash grab like Ashley Flowers' novel, but Alaina Urquhart clearly is a real reader and a real writer, on top of being a real mortuary scientist. The twist in this genuinely shocked me, and the writing had texture and grit. There were a few times where I kind of rolled my eyes and said, "Yeah, yeah, Israel Keys, we all know him," or whatever, but that's true of true crime references in books that aren't by true crime podcasters, too. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will look forward to the next.
nothing really against it, but there were so many references to silence of the lambs and the plot was kind of following that for a bit. i wish the big twist/ reveal of why wren was important was revealed earlier, it would have helped me be interested. but i wouldn’t say it was bad. might read the second one. *shrug*
The book was actually really good but the ending sucked!! All this reading and in one page it’s ruined. Great story and characters. A little confusing in the middle but made sense after more reading. But I just can’t over the shitty ending!

Oof, I think there were a lot of interesting ideas here that just weren't fleshed out enough and it's such a shame. There is way too much focus on details that weren't important to the plot... I could not care less about how messy Wren's hair is or what random song Jeremy happened to be playing while murdering or who happens to be biting their lip (spoiler: everyone bites their lip at some point in this novel). The ending is unsatisfying but with the announcement of a potential tv series I hope they are able make something with more substance out of this story.
