Alaina, kudos to your wonderful, spooky brain and the fact that you took a nightmare you had of being chased in a swamp and developed this book to incorporate it  👏. So happy - I enjoyed this so much and the reveal about 60% in got me good!! I love when an author can surprise me! For anyone that lives under a rock, Alaina co-hosts Morbid (a true crime podcast) along side Ash which is my fav podcast so that fact that I can now dive into Alaina’s books makes me ridiculously happy 😅

I wanted to like this book. The premise is interesting, but the execution is, quite frankly, awful. I’ve read worse but I would say that this is comparable to a James Patterson novel but without the attention to character development. It seems as though the author had a solid premise, and one or two fleshed-out scenes, and then kind of glued the rest together with vague hand-waving bs.

Short, but filled with action

October 24. I’m very curious how the second book will work. I enjoyed the first book just not as much as I was hoping. I think I need to read both books before I can give a true rating.

I would say it is a 3.75 Stars, I think it was a good average mystery/ true crime book. I think that the end was rushed just a little
