Ashley Poston's "The Dead Romantics" is a heartwarming and enchanting tale that effortlessly blends romance, humor, and the supernatural. The story centers on Florence Day, a ghostwriter for a famous romance novelist who finds herself grappling with heartbreak and a dwindling belief in love. When her father's sudden death forces her to return to her small hometown, Florence encounters the unexpected: the ghost of her new editor, Benji Andor.
Poston's writing shines with wit and charm, creating a narrative that is both light-hearted and deeply emotional. Florence's journey of rediscovering love and coping with loss is beautifully intertwined with the whimsical element of ghostly encounters. The characters are vividly drawn, with Florence’s quirky personality and Benji's endearing presence making for a delightful duo.
"The Dead Romantics" is more than just a love story; it’s a poignant exploration of grief, family, and the magic of finding hope in unexpected places. Poston's ability to balance the fantastical with the real emotions of her characters makes this novel a standout in the contemporary romance genre.
A perfect read for those who believe in love beyond the ordinary, "The Dead Romantics" will leave you laughing, crying, and ultimately believing in the power of a well-told story. Highly recommended!

Had a hard time focusing on the story. It was also quite melancholy subject wise, but not described as such? Does that make sense? Also I guess I was looking for something more light hearted at this moment in time, to compensate for my real-life melancholy.

I might come back to it. It is a hectic book.
It is all over the place with so many main story plots, and the golden retriever mayor has been mentioned three times already. I was here for the "I do not believe in love, so I cannot write this story" plot. I was excited about it. Then, suddenly, she can see and talk to ghosts.

Super cute book!! The ending was a bit predictable but didn’t take away from the central romance. Also a really great portrayal of grief and how to move forward after losing a pillar in your life
