What an interesting read! Got a lot out of this, reignited my interest in looking into this period. Well-written.

Turns out I'm not as interested in ancient Greek and Roman history as I thought I was. While I love Natalie Haynes, this is essentially a list of historical figures and their crimes and misdemeanors.

This book did a great job of giving bite sized lessons of the innerworkings of the ancient world and connecting them to modern one. Even as a person who feels like they have a moderate amount of knowledge of the ancient world, I walked away from this book with some new fun facts and perspectives.

oh my god finally! i finally finished it!

firstly, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the book, i don’t read much non fiction so i found this very difficult but i knew it would be worth it so i kept going!

i really love everything natalie haynes has written so i think i only have divine … something. i can’t remember the title but i know i only have the most recent publication left!

i personally feel that non fiction is where this author really shines, as pandoras jar was just magnificent but this was much more of a essay-style book.

I usually love books by Natalie Haynes but this one didn't hit the mark for me. It was quite dry and different characters/stories would be introduced one after the other without much flow. A lot of interesting information however and some good chapters.
