I think I've found my favourite kind of book. I loved the characterization (of family), the way the author can describe complex emotions with simple sentences, how she depicts the relationships, traumas, errors and hopes of each character.

At one point I was worried too many side characters were going to be involved, but then they didn't take up many pages and actually brought in a broader view over the happening, which I liked.

There really is nothing I could critique on that book that bothered me more than for a few seconds. A great piece of humans being unhumane and humane, about what can be forgiven and what can not be forgiven and how, at the end of the day, we all are looking for to be seen.

Mais um livro fantástico, Taylor Reid Jenkins is not missing

FUCK MICK REVA
In the words of Kendrick: I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk

I appreciated how the story was told with alternating timelines and seeing the past and how it tied to the present. I liked all of the main characters, some of the side characters I found didn’t add to the story much and were a bit distracting. I also enjoyed the reflection on parenting, its impacts and how parents behaviors impacted the kids through the 3 generations.
June’s story was so tragic and her falling into alcoholism while still trying to be a good mom, I enjoyed the nuances of how she tried her best, even though she was still dealing with her grief from her husband leaving.

Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo has been dethroned by this book!! I thought I would be disappointed in reading this because I had a hard time reading it in the first parts of the story. However, due to my laziness to find other books to read, I started reading it again and I was so glad that I did. This book, I think, is one of the best and my favourite books of all time. I rarely find myself relating to a book as much as this one did—I mean, a book about the oldest daughter of four siblings who resented her father for being such an asshole? That is my life story! I adore how TJR shaped her characters so wonderfully– they are so realistic that you would actually think her characters were all based on a real person. I was always on the verge of crying because I relate to Nina Riva so much. Also, I love how her books appear to be romance novels– but it was not actually all about romance– they tackle real-life problems like LGBTQ+ in SHOEH and family problems here in Malibu Rising. I’m out of words, I just think Taylor Jenkins Reid is a genius writer.

I see that Taylor Jenkins Reid loves to connect all her books. And I'm not mad about it because I'm kind of obsessed with the world she's created.

Really enjoyed this one even if the mention of a bunch of new names every chapter threw me off - I'm a simple gal, it takes me so long to get into a new book with loads of characters lol

Still, this one had me hooked and I couldn't put it down
