Takes running away to the circus to a whole new level. Did not go where I thought it would…but also it did? I’m in it now.

Did not like the vibe/tone of the FMC.

actual rating is 3.5 stars.

Really solid first book in a series. I found the second half of the book to be more interesting than the first. I would classify this as a YA mystery adventure like series set in the 1880's. Little romance, but I am sensing a long slow burn coming which is my favorite type of romance considering the series is 7-8 books long. I will be continuing on with it. I loved the twists and turns and it was such a fun read.

THE PLOT TWISTS!?

also wow, the writing for this book was so immersive?! like the language being used, really felt like i was thrown back to the olden times.
love love love Stoker and Veronica so so much. I'm not the best w/ historical-esque fiction but man, this was so well done! the plot was plotting, the characters were so unique and lovely and i literally could not stop rooting for both of them. the relationships were fascinating, and all the characters i could literally see vividly. i was saaat.
