This was a fantastic book! A really captivating story that is rooted in Lily's different identities (as a queer person, a Chinese American, a member of her community). Her journey of self discovery was so well described, and all the characters were complex and interesting! I also loved the short flashbacks from her family's perspectives; I feel like this really grounded the story in the historical context and added another dimension to it. Overall, all elements of this story felt completely real and helped it jump off the page. I'm so glad my friend let me borrow it because I would not have known about it otherwise!

I’m normally not a huge fan of YA but I had to make an exception for this one. It was very informative and I found myself attached to the characters.
