However, I’m not a fan of how Murakami writes about human bodies — both male and female. Sometimes the descriptions are quite unnecessary to me. Also not really a fan of the way he writes sex scenes. Despite this, I still really enjoyed the book on the whole. I find it easy to follow the story even without searching for greater meanings / deep reflections within yourself. So it’s a good read even if you just read it for the plot.

i just think there's a lot of fillers that don't add to the plot. i don't recognize the purpose of the ramblings about music and composers and classical pieces. and also i get that this loosely is inspired by the oedipus complex, but the sex scenes reaaaaaaally don't sit well with me, and i'm tired of murakami's horny ass unnecessarily dropping details about women's boobs and teenage dicks p l e a s eeeeeeeee.
i'm glad i finally finished it. i'll probably pick up another murakami when i can feel i can tolerate his horniness.
