Loved this book! I think I must just be a Murakami groupie; I find every single piece of Murakami's work to be mesmerizing. This story was so beautifully woven and the characters so brilliantly developed, that this book transports you to another time and place. Murakami has a skill of interweaving the fantastic with the realistic in a seamless manner, so you end up wondering where reality ends and the dream world begins. I highly recommend this novel!

I'm torn, I don't know whether I absolutely love or insanely hate the book. In my opinion some parts of the book were too openly and unnecessarily sexualized, but maybe it wouldn't have had the same effect on me if it were written otherwise. I really can't make my mind up, as it seems - a lot of the community is divided as well, people either love it or hate it.

I devoured this book. I loved the writing style and the progression of the story. It kept me on a hook. I even gave it 5 stars and put it on my “favourites” shelf. However, the way Murakami portrays female characters is hard to ignore; it isn’t just that he sexualises them -an object of desire-, but the purpose they serve is to be an agent of change or growth for the male character. Ultimately, making them responsible for changing or bettering the man.

Hell yeah
