A humorous little book that displays the power of books. I'd love to know how Alan Bennett came up with it, as it's a fascinating premise.

Sweet shorter book that zips along. Good writing, a great little ending and an enticing theme on the love of reading.

Short. Sweet. Absurd. Great for anyone trying to play catch up on their book goals!

Bennett also wrote the play "The History Boys" and again focuses on gay issues. This novella is a different approach, however, and has a nice little twist at the end. There are some real tidbits to think over. Still, it's VERY English in its dry humor.

Lettura leggera e molto carina. Racconta una versione meno rigida della Regina Elisabetta che si diletta a leggere libri di vario genere e ad allontanarsi dai propri obblighi di sovrana. Un modo carino per conoscere anche altri autori e opere che non avevo neanche mai sentito nominare.
Ironico e improbabile.

DNF: this book made me fall asleep in the sun and get sunburnt on a strip of my exposed (pregnant) belly.
