(m/m, werewolves, romance). I don't understand the hold these books have on me, but I cannot escape it. 399 pages in 28 hours in which I also like..worked. But these books seriously LIVE in my brain. IDK if it's good, but I know I like it. I think part of it is that I like immersive books and this world feels very lived in to me. Part of it is definitely being, mostly, a bubble of one during a global pandemic and the intense, extended platonic chosen family physicality that these books have. I read Wolfsong this time with my eyes, but last time I listened to Kirt Graves read it to me, and hearing the voice he gave to the books in my head this time definitely also contributed. The book isn't perfect- Klune uses "glassy" for pain and Ox's dad's "get shit" speech a bit too repetitively, and I still can't decide how I feel about the age gap. & the white Bennetts having "territory" that "belongs" to them for so many generations feels icky. But the found family, the pack (especially Rico and Jessie and Elizabeth), the cuddle piles, the nature, the lack of "all I want is to be a werewolf", and the setup for what I know is coming.... I really like this book.
