"And happiness is a funny thing. When one person has it, it spreads like ivy, winding its way around everyone else…if only they let it grow."

What a stunning conclusion to the Sugarlake series. All those loose ends from the childhood timeline to the present timeline wrapped up in this complex story. Shining a light on addiction, abuse, and being a survivor. McIntire covered heavy topics and as always did it well.

Fav of the series so far. The story was so touching. Two people running from their past coming together. Them both breaking generational trauma and cycles to make the best of their lives. They embraced their past lives instead of continuing to run from them.

If I'm being honest, I was dreading reading this final book in the series. I struggled a lot with Lily's storyline, and I didn't know how it would come together. I was really curious about what kind of guy she would end up with, and I was so happy to see that it was the bounty hunter! (immaculate vibes)

Emily McIntire really understands how to use tropes, and this story had some of my favorite ones. It was more emotional than I usually read, but I still enjoyed this series a lot.
