🔢 Sugarlake 4 (can be read as standalone)
🦋 strangers to lovers, secret identity
🆓 Available on Kindle Unlimited
This book came out on tuesday and i finished it in a day. The end of the sugarlake series was wonderful. I loved Lily and Mason story but it made me cry half of the book! There are some trigger warnings so please check them before reading if you need to. Mason is really sweet and rough, just how i like them. And I love how both of them interact with the other characters. And baby chase!!!!! Please, read this series for a fun, sweet and spicy time!

My goodness I couldn't get enough of this book.
Lily had a terrible childhood and she is determined to make sure her son never experiences what she did. While times might get tough she knows she has someone who depends on her.
Mason is a P.I. who is to find Lily and then leave town, but he doesn't. Once he is in her orbit Mason can't leave her alone and soon is enamored with her son as well.
While it may have have its moments of dark this book was amazing at showing how two broken people can overcome their past. This book is a roller coaster ride or such raw emotions. Definitely a must read series!

Since the moment I picked up my first Emily McIntire book, I knew I was young to be obsessed. Her talent and phenomenal writing skills are something to be in awe over and I'm honestly not surprised at how much this book took my breath away.
Lily ran away from home when she was a teenager. Hooked on drugs and abused by her "boyfriend", she felt like she had no escape. This is her story. It's her statement of recovery and the testament to her dedication. We see her as an adult, with a child of her own, seeking to outrun her demons and live the best life she can. But sometimes demons can't be outrun and Lily learns she has to face her past and all the people she left behind.
Beneath the Surface is such an impactful and important conclusion to the Sugarlake series. It ties up all the questions the reader may have and leaves us satisfied and happy with that gorgeous ending.
This book tackles some of the most important storylines that I've ever read; rape and sexual abuse, self harm, substance abuse, violence and so much more. But the most important part is the intricate and deeply sensitive way that Emily writes these topics. She takes the time to make sure that every character, and therefore the reader too, is able to recover from such harrowing and dark experiences.
A big thing about Emily McIntire's books is the steamy romance. This book in particular tackled sex and romance in a unique way, promoting self acceptance and consent. I seriously commend Emily for being able to do this and tackle preferences such as CNC roleplaying in a thoughtful and delicate way.
I don't have enough stars to hand out, so the 5 allocated will have to do. If you ever take my advice, read the Sugarlake series!
