Great short stories. Quick read. Love reading about Nicole’s growing pains and experiences. Also, Now I feel like I have to give the show Frasier another chance.

Outstanding. Perkins tells her story with unflinching honesty but she incorporates an edgy humor to create a delicate balance that keeps the reader engaged.

DNF. 2.5⭐️ — great start, but turned into a self-absorbed rant about halfway through; and I skimmed the next ~20% before throwing in the towel.

Unapologetic! What a read about uncompromising Black female sexuality. I've never felt so beige in my life!

Also when I realized the author was one half of Thirst Aid Kit everything clicked immediately. Love it!

ETA: I think about the Frasier essay often and have now started reaching Frasier.

It was good and conversational. A fresh perspective on sex and relationships, especially as a black woman, though can be very repetitive.

I like the way that this memoir isn't the typical long way to say, "And now I found the love of my life" or "I'm now this perfect yet flawed yet perfect being". She's found pieces of herself and types of love, but that's not the endgame here.

She's very self-aware and unabashed about the problematic sides of herself.

I don’t quite know how to discuss memoirs. I’ve been following this author’s work since the Thirst Aid Kit days and I recall longing for her writing so badly every week. It was an absolute pleasure to get to engage with it in this way finally. This honest, poignant and vulnerable look into her life was really special to me and I’m glad I read it. Whatever she writes next, I’m there!
