The first half of the book had some great comedic moments, but sadly they weren't enough to carry the book. The 'villian' character (the boss) was pretty flat and lifeless, and the romance felt sidelined almost completely — I really don't think the book would have lost much if the romance had been cut completely, which was disappointing because it had a promising set-up. I wish I could have liked this book more—I think a few more rounds of editing and this could have been a really solid comedy. (Marketing-wise I wish this had been portrayed as a comedy rather than a romance.) Lastly, I wish the author had consulted some actual developers! The wild inaccuracies regarding coding and development were pretty cringy.

i liked the premise of this book a lot, but it asks you for too much suspension of disbelief. the way they are keeping up the lie is RIDICULOUS... it got tiresome very quickly, but then proceeded to bulldoze along that string until i couldn't help but getting too annoyed to continue.

I’m giving this book 3.5 stars since I keep waffling back and forth between a 3 or 4 star rating.
This book is a women’s fiction comedy about sexism in the workplace, especially in male dominated industries. It’s almost a caricature since the author leans hard into cliches of the men’s club-style situations. A lot of implicit biases are explicitly stated and it can be quite hilarious. I found it poignant without absolutely bashing all men, which I appreciate the balance.
Two things specifically lowered the rating for me. First, there were some extremely random sidebars that were repeatedly brought up throughout the books, some to the detriment of the relatability of the fmc. Second, the book did get a little preachy at times. There was some *slightly* embittered feminist rants under the guise of the fmc being unable to control her anger toward ignorant men.
Overall, I found this book entertaining and funny! I was laughing and rolling my eyes along with the situation. There is the tiniest little subplot of romance, but it is not the focus of the book (I see some people were expecting otherwise and lowered their ratings for it, I wasn’t so mislead). Thank you Litfluence PR for sending me a copy of this book!

i’m pleasantly surprised! it was definitely funny and had lovable characters. the only thing is that the fairytale, idyllic ending before the epilogue felt rushed and too unrealistic.

I think this was good as women's fiction with a romantic element, but calling it romance is really a stretch. The romance is the B plot; the workplace shenanigans are the focus.
That being said, I appreciated this as a work of feminist-lite mass media. Sending a very clear message, throughout the story, but couching it a bit so it's more palatable to the masses.
It was really funny throughout, although I wonder if that's because everything was a bit cartoonish? Like everyone was an archetype, not a complex being. But she's got good jokes!
🌶️ Level: 0 (they kiss once or twice, the end.)
This was first person POV from FMC's perspective.

I would not call this a romance. I am not really sure what I was expecting because I am a cover reader. The cover looked very good so that’s why I picked it up. The cover to me screamed workplace romance, secret relationship, the works. I got none of that. Yes Ana and Shane were “in a relationship” but that was maybe 10 percent of the plot.
Addressing the women in the workplace issue was nice to see but I felt like I was reading a boring episode of the office. I wanted more. So much more.

omg! anatasia ryan has done it again.
there's not much I can talk about other than the fact I love the writing style of anastasia so much I could read anything written by her!! when I read her debut novel you should smile more I wasn't able to put the book down.. well it happened again.
once again we are met with a strong main female character that lives in a man's world.
once again we met in an office/workplace.
once again we are met with a beautiful cast of strong women.
this book, just like the other one, is perfect in the sense that
- you can't put it away
- you love the MC
- you love the side romance happening
anastasia ryan, you're my queen, please continue writing, I'll read anything by you, seriously.

More of a women's fiction than romance. But lots of hijinx fun and silliness.
