Love this! Saw someone using T Swifts song If I was a Man and I totally agree. The bro code is no joke. I'm almost 5 8 and have an awful rbf so this kind of behavior doesn't happen to me at least to my face lol.
I really want to hear Shane's voice. Everyone keeps saying how nice it is.
I can totally see how this could happen with remote and having an ambiguous name can make people confused with your gender. And the only difference between a commanding man and an abrasive woman is nothing.. just patriarchal society expecting silent woman. Good luck with that.
Love her name! Indiana!
Read it!

I loved this story.
It was part fight the patriarchy and part rom-com.
Ana is a delightful character and deals with the issues of being a woman in the male dominated field of IT with tiny fierceness. Literally, she is petite.
Shane was perfection as the love interest. And no 3rd act breakup!
Additional bonus points for taking place in Denver. And making me laugh out loud so much my husband kept giving me side eye.

DID NOT FINISH: 11%

I understand in rom-coms I need to suspend belief and I was able to laugh with the first few chapters of the book - until the lies and just 'out there slapstick' humor got too much for me to where I felt a bit cringe (and stressed). It's not a bad book by any means! I just couldn't get in to it, but I will look out for her next book.

As a short woman with a STEM background, I found many things in this story relatable! It can be difficult to be female in typically male-heavy environments, but Ana's friends made everything worse by "helping" her. The way the office gossip took on a life of its own was hysterical. I really loved how all the people in Ana's life were trying to lift her up and support her, and the relationship with Shane was awwww-worthy. Ana's rants, although definitely the cause of some of her trouble, made me laugh, and there is a discussion about hockey being "ice golf" that I loved because my youngest always calls it that. This a great, funny story for this time of year.

Skilled coder Indiana struggles to fit in at work due to her outspokenness. When transferred to a remote team, her boss assumes Ana is a man and praises “his” assertiveness. Ana decides not to correct her boss’s sexist mistake. As the legend of Indiana grows, so do the complications.

I loved this book. The tone is light and fun, taking a tongue-in-cheek approach to the subject matter. Ana and Shane are adorable together. The audiobook narration is enjoyable.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Indiana is a female coder in a male dominated industry. She's outspoken and literally says whatever is on her mind. After speaking up to her boss about something she didn't like, he transferred her to a remote team. But there, her new boss praises her assertiveness because he thinks Indiana is a man and she doesn't correct him. The office gossip about her being a man turns into a giant mess of its own and honestly it's hilarious how far it goes. The humor in this book is perfection. I found myself smiling quite a bit. It gets a little outrageous which I think is part of its charm.

It has a little romantic subplot in it but it's definitely not a romance book. This book was so much fun! It was different than anything I've read before so it was a breath of fresh air.
