this book was beautifully well written. it involved themes of a complex mother-daughter relationship, religion, and science. Gifty is a PhD candidate studying reward seeking behavior while she grapples with her mother's depression and trauma from her childhood. I loved reading about the world through her perspective. such a beautiful book <3

There's so much in this book that resonates. From themes of depression, losing a sibling, loneliness, trying to understand your own grief and communicate it with others, mother and daughter relationships, every sentence held so much feeling and could mean so much. Does mean so much.
