Ah, another delightful installment of my favorite gang of octogenarian crime solvers! I honestly can’t get enough of these books and the whole squad - they’re witty but serious, snarky but soft, and continue to just be full of heart. I never really want these books to end.
Book 2 & this one have been my favorite thus far - it feels as if Osman is really hitting his stride with these characters and each book reveals new fun slivers of their personalities and lives. There are some really tough issues woven throughout these books yet they never leave me feeling sad or anxious. Definite cozy crime vibes.
I loved seeing Elizabeth really “in her element” more than ever in this one. Ibrahim is also becoming a fast favorite of mine!
Cannot recommend these more if you want some mystery with good plot twists but nothing scary enough to keep you awake in the dark!

Another great entry in this series. They always manage to balance being funny and touching along with having an engaging mystery to solve.

I have demolished this series as fast as I can - the plot is well formulated and I’m STILL thrown at the end no matter how certain I am that I’ve solved it.

This volume I found a little harder to stick with than the others. The cast was quite large and even though all the characters are exceptionally well-considered, I found it difficult to remember all of the different names and some I really enjoyed getting to know a lot more than others. While the action got underway relatively fast, I found the pace ebbed and flowed which made following the plot a little less harder than the previous two.

All in all, Osman never lost me. His humour runs throughout and I’ll be running to grab the fourth book as soon as it’s out!

the Viking was a hilarious and terrifying villain, I enjoyed every time he cropped up, especially when it all came to a head in Joyce’s flat…. our poor, insecure bookworm :,,)
