I was surprised by the plot—I didn’t know much going in—but it was so good I couldn’t put it down. I love these characters, the drama is rooted in so much realism and details of how Neil’s trauma manifests, how he tries to navigate moving from a constant state of survival mode into building a stable present is so well done. The author clearly understands ptsd and the text is richer for it. The relationships are built slowly and I love the characters so much I wasn’t disappointed. Can’t wait to see how the next books go.

Nora sakavic had a word document and a dream and holy fuck. the tension in this was probably the best i’ve ever read. not always the biggest fan of found family tropes but i think i’m gonna enjoy this one.

“Remember this feeling. This is the moment you stop being the rabbit.”

For a 3,5-star read (that I rated 5 stars because I can), this book had no business being so addicting. The only reason I picked this up is because somehow my search page on Instagram was suddenly full of fan art for AFTG. Not sure, but I'm convinces the Goddess had decided my TBR wasn't long enough yet.
The writing is good, not great, the plot is kind of all over the place and don't expect me to be able to explain in explicit detail what the heck Exy is. Thankfully, the Foxhole Court fandom had my back and without too much extensive desk research, I feel like I can actually understand the game through Sakavic's writing.

“Money greases the wheels of the world easier than blood does, and Riko has access to both.”

Will definitely continue this series. Might get them in paperback so I can reread them at some point. That point might arrive in 2022.

PS: DO NOT search for a lot of info or fan art on Google or you favourite search engine. You will get spoiled.

I love this series unapologetically. Neil is best boy, and there’s something so compelling about sports ball + mafia.

I honestly don't know what to rate it.

I don't like how the author described mental illnesses and drug (ab)use. It doesn't really make sense (esp. Andrew) but it didn't disturb me that much.

Reading this book was uncomfortable but I enjoyed the story line. The ending was sooner than expected and there's still a lot that needs explaining. Def going to read the following book.
