There’s just something about the style of writing Colleen Hoover has in her books that compel you to keep on reading on top of the cliché-but with a twist- plot. This book hit me harder than I thought it would, and it wasn’t just because of the romance aspect; themes of first love, tragedy, family, and more come into play and makes you think about what a sacrifice it is to be a mother.
Morgan, the now 34 year old mother of 17 year old Clara, comes to the realization that “it’s time [she] figure out who [she] was meant to become before [she] started living [her] life for everyone else,” but can’t when tragedy suddenly strikes and is forced to put her self and her needs/wants on hold,,, once again. “Every decision she’s ever made for herself was made in order to benefit [her daughter]“ and puts perspective on what is to
be a young mother, contrasting with the view of a teen.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book, but the resolve of the conflict was too quick for my taste, as I expected more anger and denial at the truth.
