The beginning of the story was so slow that I almost gave up on it. Eventually it did pick up and I was able to cruise through the last half of the book. I'm not a huge mystery fan but this was at least entertaining and had a decent twist at the end.

OMG. I feel like I say this about every book in this series but this one was crazy.

There was SO much going on from the very beginning and I never wanted to stop reading it. I was so sad when they found out who the victim was and felt Mattie’s pain throughout the process!

But through it all, I loved reading through the story and being with Mattie and Robo and the others throughout the book. The ending genuinely surprised me as to who the perpetrator was! I was not going that way until we pretty much found out, so I enjoyed that.

If you love dogs, police procedure, crime, and a exciting mystery, you’ll like this book!

I can’t wait to see Mattie and Robo’s next adventure and see where things head with Mattie and Cole! Onto book #5!

(Also, I want to know this is the only series that I really take the time to review, every single time, I love it that much! Trying to do better with all my authors though!)

The local vet takes his two girls out horseback riding and his dog finds a human foot in a boot. Mattie Cobb and Robo soon find remains in a charred pit and other possible remains. It gets very personal for Mattie as her family is involved. Lots of action with numerous suspects, all recent arrivals from California. There’s a kidnapping, forest fire, and torturing. After this ordeal it looks like Mattie is finally ready to forget the past and focus on the present.

An excellent K-9 mystery!

Deputy Maddie Cobb and her K-9, Robo work together with local law enforcement and the FBI to determine the killer after a burned body is found in the mountains. This is the 4th in the series and the characters are evolving. I love the scenes between Maddie and Robo.

What I enjoy about this series is that the balance between character development and a really well-built mystery. They are a delight to read!!

I LOVE this series, this book was a bit more repetitive than it needed to be in the first half. I know hints are dropped in books to remind the reader of what happened in the previous book, but this one seemed to have more than normal. I still loved the book and it certainly redeemed itself by being what I feel like was the biggest cliffhanger so far. I can’t wait to read the next one!
