I listened to this on audiobook and I love the entire collection by Augusten Burroughs. This one was by far the most funny. I found myself laughing while driving and listening (although I kind of felt like a crazy person). I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of the author.

Another strong collection of stories from Burroughs. In particular, I really enjoyed "The Wisdom Tooth." I loved the bit when they were writing comments in the guest book. Hilarious. Two stories really stood out for their poignancy, "Locked Out" and "Kitty-Kitty." "Killing John Updike" made me giggle.

First, let me start off by saying that this is one of the first short story anthologies I have read. It was a different experience for me, not having a continuing story waiting for me to get back to it impatiently. Instead, I would read a story and move on with my day - it was a cool in between book. I could easily squeeze it between classes and appointments without really loosing my place. The stories were interesting and engaging; I liked his voice and he was easy to like. Some of the stories were funny, some were sad, but many just were there. The only reason I only gave 3 stars was because although I liked it, it was not one of my favorites. I would absolutely recommend this book to others and I will be reading more of Augusten Burroughs' books.

Augusten Burroughs is absolutely hilarious. He has knack for turning a ho-hum, everyday occurrence into an amusing anecdote that has me laughing out loud (even when reading in public). That being said- I've read [b:Running with Scissors|242006|Running with Scissors|Augusten Burroughs|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1401568343s/242006.jpg|828773] and [b:A Wolf at the Table|2145681|A Wolf at the Table|Augusten Burroughs|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388205251s/2145681.jpg|2216670] and I detested both of those works. If you want to explore Burroughs' work, I definitely recommend reading Possible Side Effects first before delving into his unbelievable and pretentious memoirs.

This is a collection of short stories, and it was pretty good. Augusten lived a pretty messed up childhood, and it sounds like it developed into some pretty hard core addiction problems.

He writes about his life, and I laugh, until I realize this is supposed to be true? Then I feel incredibly sorry for him....but at least he has found a way to make a living from his experiences....

My personal favorite of his stories was the one where he convinced his friend, a self-acclaimed Lipstick Lesbian, to take out a personal add that cost $3,000...and that's just the beginning of the troubles.

Entertaining book, for sure.

This book was hysterical. I read it on a plane and I was literally laughing out loud :-) I may be biased because I've loved all of Augusten Burroughs' books but this was particularly entertaining to me.
