4/5 … I very much enjoyed this book. It’s basically about our ocean and the ways humans have impacted it and discusses what that means and why we need to work to fix it. I loved the way this book was outlined - there were 8 long chapters each focusing on a different oceanic habitat. For example, coral reefs, the deep ocean, mangroves, the arctic, etc. I’m not usually a fan of long chapters, but doing so in this book just made sense. It was very informative, and I learned a lot. The ocean fascinates me, so I was very excited to read this book. Although humans have impacted the ocean and the things living in it in immeasurable and terrible ways, this book was incredibly hopeful. It discusses just how fast the ocean and its inhabitants can recover if only we give it the time and space to do so. I do wish it talked a little more about what I could do as an individual though. There was a lot of talk about what governments and we as a whole human race need to/can do, but not much information on what we can all do as individuals. Excited to continue learning and making better choices for my world, though!
