Gus and Bo’s story is amazing. Toni Aleo writes in such a way that you can feel what they are going through. As a young mother I was able to relate to so many of the challenges that were presented and I can understand what it was like. Seeing Bo and Gus grow together is amazing.

I almost put this one down simply because the characters were intolerable in the early chapters. I'm glad I stuck with it since they improved as the book progressed.

Gus is a rookie playing for the minor league NHL team and instantly falls head over heels for Bo, one of the ice girls. She hates him at first, but of course, that's not how it ends.

There were some laughs and, of course, some spice, but overall, this is just a 3-star read.

I genuinely almost DNF'ed because I was not confident after the last book I listened to. I'm so glad I didn't DNF tho this was adorable.

His nickname was Gus "the Bus" and he had an ego too big to fit on planet earth. But why he kinda...

Bro sexualised her in the first line of the book. That has to be some kind of achievement. Yet he made up with it in the rest of the book because he was kinda perfect? Oh my god???

He always knew what to say to reassure the fmc and he was so ready for a relationship it was not even funny. I thought he would not be at the beginning of the book.

She couldn't stop whining tho. With good reason but still.
I mean, I saw it coming that it was her kid from a mile away, but it was still interesting. But she was very stuck in the past. I would probably be as well, but Gus was such a hottie how did she not jump him first chance she got? That's some self control I would absolutely not have.

Moral of the story, don't let bad experiences in the past determine your future. Some books are horrible, some are good. Reading a bad book only makes the next one better. Never give up girlies, and live laugh love literature xoxo

I will admit I was a little leery about reading this book. I adore the author's Assassins series. I have devoured each and every one more than once. So when I saw this was not part of the Assassins I actually thought twice about reading Gus and Bo's story. I would have regretted it. I would have let myself down. Gus and Bo brightened my day. Gus and Bo burrowed into my heart.

I have a knew rating system--how long can I be distracted while riding a stationary bike. Today I rode 12 miles because I got sucked into this story. I didn't pay attention to my pain (nine knee surgeries make for painful pedaling) because Bo's obvious emotional pain was so deep. I can't remember the last time I rode 12 miles. I can't remember the last time I connected to so well with a story. What an amazing storyline!!!! What great characters!!!

How sweet it is to be loved by you...
Or annoyed by you...?

Gus the Bus is an annoying, arrogant, conceited, play boy, manwhore, Rookie hockey player. Or so Bo thinks.

The Girl With No Name spews hate and it's hot as Hell. Or so Gus thinks.

These two are a train wreck you pray happens. The chemistry and fight is a flare in a sea of gasoline. It's inevitable and it's a beautiful mess. With ER visits that will have you cackling and oral skills that make professional hockey players look like peewee, there's nothing to keep you from loving Gus long and hard. Except maybe a hidden secret and a snarky temptress with flaming red hair...

Misadventures With A Rookie is an absolute blast. It's enemies (just go with it, Bo swears she hates him) to lovers in a fiery path to forever!

Oh hello hockey romance..

Misadventures of a Rookie was a cute book. Unfortunately, not a lot happened for most of this book. Yeah, Gus and Bo bicker a lot and sometimes that works for me.. but it didn't this time around. I wanted more - especially since this is book #10 in this series. If it was #1 then I might've been more lenient.

Then it got a smidge better towards the end. It was obvious that these two had chemistry but it also kind of felt a little too late for me? I just feel like this had so much potential but ended up being a dud. Wanted more from this book/storyline and got nothing in return.

I've never watched a hockey game, but Ms. Aleo makes it so easy to understand in all of her books and Rookie is no exception. She provides great background story and her character development is amazing. I love how Gus is persistent with Bo, but not pushy. They stand by each other through a lot of things and it of course helps that they have amazing chemistry. It takes Bo some time to bury the demons from her past, but once she gets through it, she goes all out to show Gus just how much she wants to share a life with him.

Bo always stated she would never give date an athlete. Gus is known for his one and done philosophy about women. But when the sparks fly between the two it’s more than just scratching an itch. Real feeling are involved. But will issues from her past keep Bo from making the commitment that Gus wants? Or will getting a spot on the NHL team be the nail in the coffin for Gus? With heartwarming characters and a beautifully written storyline this is another great read in this series. I highly recommend this book.

I received an ARC from Waterhouse Press via NetGalley.

This started off not so great for me. I honestly thought about not continuing this in the beginning. I thought that Gus was so damn arrogant and that Bo was an angry stuck up redhead. Now I’m not saying that it’s my favorite book of all time or the series, but it grew on me and I came to like it.

As you read, you realize there is more to Gus and Bo. I went from not really feeling it to rooting for them to make to the end. The relationship between them shifted and I was all here for it! They both realized that this was so much for than what they planned for. I really ended up getting attached to them. There were times that I wanted to hug Bo and tell her how strong she was. Also, Gus ended up being so dreamy that I couldn’t help smiling when he spoke.

I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars because of the rocky beginning and I would have loved an epilogue or some kind of future look at them.

Overall, this was full of steam and funny moments. While it’s not my favorite in the series, it is a good book and if you enjoyed the others you should give this one a shot.
