Definitely could’ve profited from a proof-reader or editor, but still kept me on my toes.

First of - I haven't read the Obsidian Series (although it's on my to-read list) and the description got me interested.. it said:
With millions of pages read in the series and thousands of copies sold, Saving Angel will transport fans of Twilight, The Mortal Instruments, and Divergent to a world unlike any other...

And I was like " ok, I read all of them.. let's give this a try"
This book only was 248 pages long, but it felt like 1000 pages.
I loved that Emma was gaming as I am a gamer girl myself. But that's only one of the few things I liked about this book.
To me it felt like Emma had no backbone, she was always getting saved and never stood up for herself.
Especially the realtionship with Chase.. this guy.. I mean we are told like 34343 times that he is hot, we get it. But what about his character? Why should Emma want him? Why is he the way he is?
He was so mean to her so many times and then later if he gets near to her, she just forgives him instantly because he is so hot. Seriously?!

I wanted to talk some sense into her.. it was so bad.

I read this book because of a romance challenge and I am happy i did. This book has a bit of a twilight feeling to it to me and since I loved that book it is obvious I would this one. You have the clueless girl (although angel has a ton of spunk) and then you have the supernatural family and the boy who catches her eye. The ending has a bit of a twist and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

This book was too much like Obsidian (Lux,#1) for me to enjoy it. Which I feel terrible about because I know a lot of work must've gone into the book.

2.5 stars.

Taking an idea out of a book and turning it into something else I can handle...but the scenes were all the same. I might as well have read Obsidian again.

I loved every moment of this book! I know it is very similar to Lux series, but I still love it. The characters are great. Chase Winters is a very sexy Divisa, and a total badass hero. Angel is a smart girl who is new to town, and she is a gamer. It is a nice debut novel to the series. Overall, an amazing read.

This book is advertised as like "twilight. "I decided to read it to see. I enjoyed Angel and Chase, from the tongue sparks to the intense action and even the steamy s genes. This couple captivated my attention. The author included many tropes I love, like paranormal, supernatural, and enemies to lovers. This book reads very much like a "Twilight" young adult story. It was enthralling, action-packed, and connected with the characters. I can't wait to read more in this series.

We start from Angel's point of view. She is moving from Tucson, Arizona, to Spring Valley, Illinois. She isn't thrilled about the move, but she doesn't have a choice since her family has become broken. Her mom is somewhat like a beta friend as she has discovered her freedom. Her dad is in Arizona state prison. She is a fan of video games but not a fan of new schools.

She makes a friend next door, Lexi but has an interesting first encounter with her cousin Chase. He is stunned, and she is using him as eye candy. But he is also an insufferable jerk. In town shopping, she notices that people aren't as lovely or just move out of their way, but why? Lexi seems normal, but Chase has moments that might seem more supernatural. He is a bad boy, and I think her brother is nicer.

Chase again shows some compassion by rescuing her in the forest, but it doesn't answer any supernatural questions. Oh, we finally get an answer Chase and others she has met are Divisa, but I won't explain that to you. You will have to solve the paranormal mystery on your own while reading this book.

Chase and Angel are very good at hating each other. The other perfectly sums up their young adult paranormal romance. "like fire and ice, Hot as hell one minute and cold as ice the next. " This book gets action-packed as she is in danger, but her dark knight seems to rescue her when needed. This book ends on a low note but will surprise you. Be ready for an emotional overload, from heartbreaking to hopeful. I can't wait to read more in this series with these characters.

Saving Angel started off pretty well. You meet Angel who has moved away from Tuscan to live with her mother after her father has been sent to jail. And then of course there is the mysterious boy who lives next door and his friendly cousin who only wants a friend. Angel has dealt with a lot of crap throughout her life and the fact that she lives next to spawns of evil just makes it even worse.

I loved Angel with her spunk and no crap attitude, how she didn't throw pity parties for herself or the ironic meaning behind her name. After reading further and learning the paranormal feature behind the series, I look back and laugh at when Angel and Chase first met. Little did she know that Chase was a half-demon and that her "pure" name was hysterical. The best part was how she responded to his reaction.

Chase is a snarky alpha male who wants nothing to do with Angel. He pushes her away, yet he can't keep away from her himself for "unknown" reasons. They are up and down in whether they are friends, more than friends, or nothing at all. It really throws you through a loop. Angel and Chase were either fighting of wanting to make out. This was really a love-hate relationship.

I really enjoyed this book and immediately bought the second book in the Divisa Series.

Rating this books was very hard I loved the characters, loved the plot, loved everything except the proofreading. Whoever did it was bad. There were words with the wrong tense and the wrong words in places...well right word but wrong spelling. :) Putting that aside I loved this book

Angel was everything I could ever want in a girl. Not kick ass, a human against demons I mean come on duh. And the author didn't try to make her so. Which made me so freaking happy. I hate when its forced. Despite her lack of physical strength though she has the mouth to match any demon, a complete gaming nerd (if her and Travis do not become best friend gaming buddies forever I will be so sad lol).

Lexi was the perfect best friend for Angel. Her polar opposite she was girly, and kind and well really really girly lol. But they worked. They seemed to balance one another like night and day. (though when peeved Lexi was bad-ass and it was amazing!)

I am not sure how to describe Chase. His arrogance knows no bounds and this is definitely one of those fall for the bad boys. Its also one of those stories that shows the bad boy has another side. Chase is an ass no doubt about it but he is protective and has sweet redeeming moments. I don't think there are always enough but that's just my opinion. ;)

The other characters were great and I seriously hope I get to read more about Travis as he is a fave of mine and I feel like his story will be both sad and insightful with (this is me hopping against all hope) a happy ending.

The plot reminded me somewhat of Twilight to be honest. Supernatural dude, new girl in town that's different from others in an indescribable way, love ensues. However it is not like Twilight for the fact that it has more substance. They don't meet and that's it its love. This is more like its lust and they both admit it. I cannot even truthfully say its love by the end of book one. Their relationship is more realistic. Its complicated. They feel drawn to one another, they have teenage hormones, but they both know the other is bad for them and tries to play keep away. So as I said more complicated and realistic than in Twilight.

All in all this is a great read. Its my first book by J.L Weil but it wont be my last....I simply have to know what will happen next!

If you love the Lux series by JLA then you will most likely love this series. They are very similar and a perfect cheesy read. Quick to get through and just as dramatic.
