Started off pretty slow, but still interesting enough for me to keep going. I found the climax to be great until the last few chapters.

all of that pining just for them to not even kiss?
i was not a fan of any of the travis/ emma character development in this because it just felt like we were being told not show. loved how the gutmunsen twins dynamic was developed in this. overall i was a little disappointed , the plot was interesting but it ended up being so rushed, all of that buildup for a 10 page ending.

5 off-the-rocker stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book possessed me- 1 day to slurp this go-go juice. I feel alive.

I didn’t think the dialogue could get any better. I was proven wrong. Some of my favourite Emma, Simon interactions (some even trumped None Shall Sleep??):

Simon holds himself very still. “It’s the nature of life to be pointless, Emma. Mayflies fluttering for a single glorious day… Existence has no real meaning- I thought you knew that. We shine briefly, and are extinguished.”

“Should I ravage dear Emma?” His jaw brushes hers as he speaks, soft, soft. “Tear off her lips, her nose… Strip the skin from her cheeks? If she’s no longer pretty, will the foolish boys like Peter Kirke stop hounding her? It’s a curse to be lovely, isn’t it? Everyone wants a piece…”
I am not okay
