As difficult as it was to read, I'm extremely glad I read this book. It does justice to the victims of Sandy Hook, but it also shines an eye-opening light on the conspiracy theories and misinformation surrounding this shooting (and other similar incidents). This book is, of course, full of triggering content for anyone who may be sensitive to issues surrounding gun violence, the deaths of children and many other disturbing topics, but I would recommend this book to anyone who is comfortable reading it.

A thoroughly researched account of the scum of the earth (aka Alex Jones) and the spread of harmful conspiracies surrounding the horrific school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. Williamson draws strong ties between these decade-old lies propagated by Jones et al. and the rise of Trumpism and “alternative truths” that have proliferated through the under regulation of social media, especially through conspiracy groups on Facebook, culminating in the popularity of QAnon and the January 6th insurrection on the Capitol.

After I had gotten this book from the library, there were two more mass shootings in quick succession. WTF is wrong with this country.

There were a few instances where I noted repeated phrases and quotes from earlier in the book - but it is certainly challenging to edit a book of this scope and length and it didn’t detract too much from my reading experience.

I feel for the many hours of InfoWars spewing Williamson must have had to watch for this book. And the interviews with conspiracy spreaders? Sketchy, indeed. I’m glad deplatforming has been fairly effective in at least some of these cases.
