I once read a piece from a reporter on internet stalking and violence that almost every time she traced someone in Nazi or Nazi-esque subgroups through to their turning point, it led back to Gamergate. It made her think how sad it was that the community bluntly refused to take the terrorizing of women seriously or listen to those women about what was really happening and the toll it took. So now it's happening to more and more people.
This book makes that argument about fake news, alternative realities, deep state conspiracies, and the "feral lack of empathy" so often shown. It's convincing.
The story is heartbreaking, and it will happen again. It already is.

Graphic: Mass/school shootings, Gaslighting, Grief, Hate crime, Child death, Emotional abuse, and Suicide
Moderate: Gun violence
Minor: Suicide
This book is hard to read. It is also important.
