At first, I was confused by the new world and was interested in the past areas, not in the new ones. However, the female character in this book sucked me in like the last one. I don't think this world is as interesting as the last, but it was still a good read.

this one was okay. i like Graceling better than this one. but i am glad that Fire got the happy ending with a person who was faithful to her.

A bit more interesting than the second one, but not satisfying.

It took me a crazy amount of time to read this one book even though it’s not even 400 pages.
The story was a big let-down. The first time I read it I gave this book 5⭐️ so imagine my surprise when I barely read a couple of pages and had to put down the book cause I was bored out of my mind.
I could not memorize who was who. They had similar names and mannerisms. Nothing really happened that’s worth mentioning.
Fire would have been a great character if she wasn’t so bloody boring.
I did not care at all.

Wow. Really? That's it? Talk about anticlimactic. This book would build up towards something that could have exciting and new, and before anything could happen, it would peter out. Endless disappointment.

Another annoyance- beside having little psycho-boy Leck briefly make an appearance, how the hell is this considered to be a part of the Graceling series? What happened with Katsa and Po? Graceling totally left off where a sequel could have - and SHOULD have - continued their stories. What was the purpose of going back to tell Fire's lame and self-absorbed story in a totally separate set of kingdoms?

Basically, if this book would have been set as a prequel to Graceling, and had some more compelling plot points and resolutions, it would have been a lot better. Since that is obviously not the case, I just wish I wouldn't have wasted my time on this one.
