Really enjoyed this, the setting, the characters and the plot. The writing style drew me in and kept me reading until the end.
That said, I feel like the motive/culprit behind the murder was introduced far too late for me in the book.

Look, I enjoyed it. But it felt like two or three fragments of different books that didn‚Äôt quite fit together, particularly the undercooked alien components. I‚Äôll be back for his next novel but Thompson can do better than this.

This is an intriguing and thought provoking novel that isn’t just a fun, action packed and full of twists and turns. It asks tough questions about humanities survival in space and whether we hinder our own chances or will be able to learn and be better able to adapt and live with the environment rather than destroy and over reach it. This is an exciting locked room mystery but set deep in space and would urge anyone who loves crime or sci fi or both to read this.
