I wish this had more detective mystery and less space disasters but it was still fun. Why does every science fiction book I read have a wolf? Is that the future? Wolves in space?

How to tell a book was written by a man : first words out of a woman's mouth when experiencing gravity "It's my first time on a planet. I feel fat. Do I look fat?". Had this not happened towards the very end of the book it would have been an instant dnf yikes.

Otherwise very strong first half of the book. The reveal comes out of nowhere and it's so frustrating when a mystery book pulls the reveal from nothing. How am I supposed to enjoy it when nothing led me to it.
The ending was frustrating.
Meh

This was a hard one to rate. I loved the suspense and trying to figure out the murderer and the clues, but then it just sort of... Ends. No one is really happy and the people are cut off from earth in the middle of nowhere in the galaxy.

I have mixed feelings about this, mainly because of the ending. While I really liked the book and found it propulsive and compelling, I also felt like too many major threads were left dangling. I don't need everything tied up in a tidy bow by the end, but the ending didn't leave me feeling that anything had been entirely resolved, which was a shame. Space is the perfect environment for a locked-room mystery, and I'd love to read more books like this--just, maybe, with more resolution at the end.

Cool promise, often really boring tho.
