3.75 stars but I’ll round up

I may be in the minority but I liked this much more than Never Let Me Go. I never felt that it dragged and it has such tender moments-it was just very enjoyable. I liked reading from the perspective of the AI, I found it refreshing to be immersed in a somewhat simple character and take a break from the complexities of human emotion. Such a bittersweet tale and an interesting story

This, right here. This drivel is what happens when a writer coasts. The author shamelessly combines several previous novels for an extremely underwhelming product. Badly done, Ishiguro. I expected much much more.

I wanted to like this I really did but if anything this confirmed that maybe Kazuo Ishiguro just isn't the author for me.

If I hadn't been reading this with a friend, I probably would have read it too fast to properly remember it
