this book should come with a huge fucking trigger warning. I was completely blindsided by the (personally very triggering!!) depictions of transphobia and homophobia in this book. It sent me into a tailspin.

If ur cis you’re not allowed to misgender trans people, ever, period. Ever. Not in ur comics, not to make a point. Not to show the history of a character or whatever. You’re not allowed to do it. So fucking don’t. I’m looking at YOU Miss “cis af” venable.

So sweet in the end. I'm so happy for the main character and Sam family to finally be together.

“I can put my invisibility cloak back on and act like I’m not constantly thinking about kissing my female friends”

That just feels like when a straight girl looks at you and says well you’re a lesbian so do you just want to kiss me right now?!…… um no I don’t just want to kiss every girl I see. I may like women but I’m not some horny dude…

This book has characters that are just transphobia and homophobia personified. Also religious trauma…. Um yeah I feel like this book is just stereotypes of “the gay experience”. I was bored.

Very sweet book with queer and trans characters. Shows a lot of complexity about how relationships can and values can change, rather than tying everything up neatly. Very nice art style, the characters are really fun and expressive. Given a hearty thumbs up by my teen, who insisted that I read it too.

A quick paced LGBTQ+ graphic novel that touched on many different LGBTQ+ topics.

WHY have I been putting off reading this??? It was so good I am KICKING myself for not reading it sooner

I literally giggled-- GIGGLED LIKE A LITTLE SCHOOLGIRL at the end

(If it weren't that these are touchy subjects around these parts, I would be using this as a great example of unreliable narrators)
