Interesting idea, fluffy execution. Kind of the science fiction book equivalent of a Die Hard movie.
This was a wonderful book! It was very realistic, and I could imagine the things that happened in it occurring today. It kept me very interested and wanting to know what would happen next, and I couldn't stop listening. I felt so bad for John Grady and the other prisoners and everything they went through, and I was rooting for them through the whole book, hoping they could bring down the BTC. If you like science fiction or thrillers, I highly recommend this book!

This was a great read. The main premise in it isn't _exactly_ new, but for me this was a brand new execution, and a good one. It's got the typical Suarez tech detail, if a bit more fanciful than his previous entries, and the characters and story are top notch. If high-tech thrillers are your bag, add this to your list, along with his other entries. If you could take or leave scifi, probably give this one a pass, as it's solidly high-tech and makes no apologies.
I was fairly skeptical at the beginning of the book, the amount of technobabel was astounding and somewhat off-putting. Suarez, however, wove it all together and created one of his trademark thrillers, from about chapter 7 to the end I was all in.
One particular section of the book had a huge effect on me, the prison they put John in was absolutely and completely horrifying to me, I will have nightmares about it probably for the rest of my life. Everyone has triggers. Spiders, snakes, child abuse, teenage love triangles, whatever, this prison is mine by a long shot. is something Suarez should have damn well left inside his own head and not freaked me out.
Great book that was a bit formulaic and heavy on the jargon.

not being able to control anything about your body or your mind and having your memories taken awayGreat book that was a bit formulaic and heavy on the jargon.
It's a great read if you have an interest in quantum physics and technology. However, the science sometimes get in the way of the story. The first chapter is really heavy into explanation, which in itself is interesting, needs to be edited into something shorter and simpler. Fortunately, the rest of the book is in essence, a fast moving techno thriller. I found the ending a little too "neat".
Facebook? Doch statt Gratulanten kommen Terroristen, Grady stirbt.

A fun Sci-fi thriller with outrageous technological advances being hidden by an out of control covert government agency. Good characters that you care about and non-stop action.
The conspiracy theorists are right! The government is hiding things from us. This is a great story that some may believe has a smidgeon of truth to it. I was really into this story & I liked the main character. Maybe parts are a little far fetched but I was into it so it didn’t bother me.
3.5 stars. There were some fun aspects of this book including the inventive technologies. But there were also parts of the book I got a little slogged down in. I can see the parallels to Michael Crichton but maybe the difference is in the pacing? I seem to recall Crichton had a lot of "cliffhangers" at the end of chapters and this book does more rolling along. Overall a good read, fun.
