hel yeah

So far I've loved all of Daniel Suarez' books.

I really liked this book. I loved the hard science throughout the book. I liked that the author wasn't afraid to kill off some people. And I generally liked the main character. However, I felt like this book should have been split up into a sequel. So much happens all in one book. It was a bit of an overload. I felt like I would have like it more as a whole if it wouldn't have just kept going on and on.

I quite enjoyed it! It was really entertaining, and kept me on my toes. I finished it in 4 days. Some of the math and science jargon was a bit off at times, but that's just me.

This is the 3rd book I've read of Suarez's & I'm sold on his writing. They're great pieces of sci-fi & I'd highly recommend both this one & his Daemon series.

The Goodreads summary does a good job (& I'm behind on my reviews), so:

"Particle physicist Jon Grady is ecstatic when his team achieves what they've been working toward for years: a device that can reflect gravity. Their research will revolutionize the field of physics--the crowning achievement of a career. Grady expects widespread acclaim for his entire team. The Nobel. Instead, his lab is locked down by a shadowy organization whose mission is to prevent at all costs the social upheaval sudden technological advances bring."

It's to too often that as you're reading a book, you can envision how parts would make *fantastic* movie scenes, but this happens multiple times in this book. Honestly, if this isn't a movie in a few years, I will be shocked. Still, the book will be better, so go & read it now!

This book as not as good as Suarez's others. There were whole sections of science jabber that I skipped over entirely without losing anything of value to the story. The premise behind the story is interesting, government keeping advanced technology from the general populace, but I don't think it was used to its fullest. The characters were all quite stereotypical and predictable. I'll not give up on Suarez yet, since I did enjoy the other two books I read, but hopefully he ratchets it up in the next one!

Really enjoyed this book. I loved Suarez's first two novels (Daemon and Freedom(tm)) but was really disappointed in his third (Kill Decision). This book is much more like the former than the latter. It doesn't deal with big ideas, but the story is compelling and fun, and there's a little technical twist at the end I really like.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix

This felt like reading an amateur story of an excited 8th grader who’s obsessed with physics. Most of the characters are there simply to be plot devices, a million plot holes and convenient turns of events abounded, and so many unnecessary things were over explained for no reason. With idealistic and downright comical morals, this contrived ass book is so one dimensional that it was almost too much effort to eyeroll at.
