This edition includes a lot of old favorites, with much of the dark flavor for which we all love the Grimm brothers.
This is, I've decided, the only way to enjoy Grimm's fairy tales! This collection of fantastic narrators breathes new life into old stories. While the Grimms apparently had no qualms recycling their own content and a penchant for using the numbers 3, 7, and 12, they surely didn't pull any punches with plot twists and gruesome deaths! I liked the opportunity to sample some excellent narrators and to finally hear the REAL story of all these Disney princesses.
1. Definitely a darker version of Cinderella than the Disney one.
2. The Grimm brothers must have had just the worst stepmother.
3. The cast for the audiobook is superb. It was great listening to Jim Dale again.

June 2023. An audiobook of some of some of the most famous Grimm’s Fairy Tales. I’d heard some before but not all of them, it was interesting and fun to listen to the original versions I hadn’t heard before.
Listened to on Libby with my Sac library card.
“Grimm’s Fairy Tales” by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.

will finish this book eventually, but at my current rate, i’m reading a story or two a month, so there’s still a long way to go. I just want it off my currently reading.
Earlier versions seem so much less didactic than the later versions. Great intro to this edition.
challenging
dark
slow-paced
I enjoyed reading these tales, they were dark at times. I found some of the stories familiar with other stories but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of them. I'm glad I finally read this book.
Alas , I'm parting with this beautiful book. and Alas for my decision to read it after I've read other fairytales in french this very same year, so I think I'll be postponing reading any other fairytales books.
What kept me wondering whenever I read a story was it's origin, a lot of those stories are intertwined, they have the same beginnings but not the same endings , and a lot of those stories have other versions I've read in the french book I mentioned before, so where did they come from?
reading the original versions of the stories we all loved and grew up knowing, is a tremendous thing, whenever I come across a story I know it's automatically puts a smile on my face.
And a plus here people was the fact that there are some really kick-a** girls in the book, which really amazed me.
It is a book very suited for little children, I know how much imagination those stories gave me when I was little, I know they'll do the same to ANYONE.
A must read for your children!!
Oh and I forget, Once upon a time brought me here, yeah I know it's lame to mention it on my review but it's a great show! :p
now I'm done with the review
