3.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️ This book was fantastically written and made the reader feel the emotions in every chapter. This was an extremely heavy book and my heart really was breaking throughout the whole thing. I try to avoid love triangle books because I don’t condone cheating and fantasizing it. With that said, this book was somewhat of an exception for me up until about 50% through the book and then the real conflict started for me.
The reason for 3.5 stars was just a personal preference for me. My own feelings for who I wanted her to end up with gave me whiplash. Usually in books with love triangles, the one who the main character truly wants is more evident. In this one, as much as I loved the person she ends up with, I just was never fully convinced that was who was right for her and it seemed more impulsive than true genuine feelings of love. I just found the ending to be unrealistic and was still questioning if what she was feeling was love or something else. I think I just wished they would have given less Gavin and more Briggs after they came back.
Overall, I appreciated the epilogue at the end and I can’t wait to read more stories by these authors because they are very talented storytellers.

Great story. Painful premise, broken characters, heartbreaking story with no right answers. Could be considered a HEA. I was conflicted at times.. but very well written and felt all the feels of this intense military romance.
Gavin can get it so hard tho

The absolute worst book I’ve read in a very long time
This book was painful to read and has left me heartbroken but it was also beautiful in showing how humans can overcome tragedy.
Our girl Katy is a soldier and left her husband and son to go on tour. She knows it’s her duty but in truth she would rather be at home with her family. However, she is there with her best friend Mullins and they make friends with a group of men which includes Briggs. Briggs is the sexy, fun and flirty man that feels things for Katy he knows he shouldn’t and vice versa. These authors didn’t shy away from depicting the horrors of war and how it changed you when you come back home, and that’s if you do.
I don’t want to spoil anything but this book was so angsty and sad, especially when it came to the love triangle aspect. I felt terrible for everyone involved, especially Katy’s husband Gavin, but I also understood the connection Katy and Briggs had when going through that kind of trauma. It was all so grey and no one was at fault.
You can tell these authors put so much time and care into writing this story and it was a love letter to soldiers and their families. I’m so glad they brought attention to the suicide and homelessness rates of soldiers, it’s truly disgusting and we need to do more to help them.

Rating this 3 because I am #TeamGavin. I can't tell you how much I feel disconnected reading this except for Gavin's POV. I just finished it just for the sake of Gavin. I just hoped a better epilogue for him than that. He deserves it. I'm all for the love triangle tropes, for the sacredness of marriage, and that unconditional love. No matter how ugly of a tragedy that Briggs and Katy went through, Gavin and Noah still deserve that family and I hated Katy for it.
Have been wanting to listen to this for a long time. Finally got around to it! This book is so heavy. So much angst, so much sadness, & so much love. I felt the PTSD both Riggs & Scotti were suffering through in my bones. Thank you for writing & sharing this story with us, Heather & Kate. Excellent narration by Aaron Shedlock & Tracy Marks.
