i will read book 2 but honestly this reads like fanfiction lmao it contains every cliche and trope of fanfiction i'm trying to get away from!!!!! why are you doing this
I struggled to enjoy the first half of the book because of the pacing, it picked way up in the end though. The relationship between Vhalla and Aldrik left me wanting more ugh

But too much air will sniff it completely, just as too many flames will consume all the air. They are far greater that the Sun of their parts together, but are equally as dangerous to each other's existence.

ESTOY MUY ENOJADA CON ESTE LIBRO, así que voy a esperar unos días a que se me pase y voy a despotricar todas las cosas que no me gustaron o que directamente no tenían sentido, xoxo.

This may be the most poorly written book I've ever read. Yikes.

Before I was even on Bookstagram, I read this book purely because I love the genre and her cover art is always phenomenal! I'm also a huge fan of epic fantasy and romance, so I knew this was the right book for me. Since being on social media, I have seen how popular she is, so I will be making my way through the rest of her books! I just love it when we find an author like this!
I really enjoyed the story and the theme. The action starts on page one, and carries on that way through the whole book. This is a big deal for me as I'm usually quite critical if my attention is not grabbed at the very first second. I actually forgot that I was reading this book, WHILE reading it, which is the best feeling.
I loved the characters and felt that Vhalla had a great character development, which is so crucial for a good book. She was quite hesitant to start with, but grew into herself and become more confident as the story unfolds. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, and what happens for our main characters.

The book was fine! It has been very hyped in the book review space in social media, as being a very underhyped book, but I think if it were a brand new series I would still feel the same.
It was entertaining, the plot seems interesting but feels formulaic to fantasy series out today: average girl uncovers that she actually has the most powerful of the gifts and has to decide if she’s going to use it or not and also there’s so many romance options how will she ever choose?
Was it enjoyable? Yes
Was it frustrating? Also yes.
I have things I like and dislike about the main characters which is good because it means they aren’t overly perfect, but everyone (especially the secondary characters) seem very flat and lack much nuance.
Also the main villain literally doesn’t have a reason to act the way he does other than “villain”. Maybe in future installments we’ll learn more but by the end of this book it was just so cringy how hard the dude was trying and yet never had a real reason for his hatred? Like at least the world building enemy had some reasons we haven’t dove into much but this story’s bad guy isn’t even in the first like 75% of the book!
I will give points for the FMC having some spine (saying no to things, talking back, holding grudges), but she also falls into the “telling not showing” trap of a main character who is supposed to be so smart yet can’t figure out obvious things happening around her because it needs to be spoon fed to the reader…
I will continue the series (I’ve already started book two) and see if it picks up, but this may be a soft DNF for me in the end.
