In the story, when a hoard of men stumble upon a cat-like creature on a foreign planet,

"I think we should first decide whether it's an "it" or a "him", and call it one of the other. I am in favor of "him".

So classic sci-fi writers, (and in this case, the writer of the story that's considered to be the beginning of the golden era of science fiction), not only stayed away from writing women characters but completely forgot about the existence of the female gender.

This was SO interesting. It's another short story that I read for school and I went in a little more open, since I'm finding classic Science Fiction might be my jam.
There story bounced back between the Human POV and Couerl POV, and I think that's really what made it. Seeing the motivations of the Couerl pulled me in.
I did find some of the Human's choices annoying but overall, I'd recommend
