This is very different to Tahereh's more popular series, Shatter Me. I'm so glad I gave it a try because either her writing got better or the Shatter Me style just wasn't for me.

Really enjoyed the book (and later the series!). This book is quite slow in pacing but I personally did not mind that at all - I actually preferred it. The story really picks up towards the end and I have never been so fast to open the second book to continue a story. I will say that sometimes the book rambles on for juuuusttt a little too long on the characters feelings/opinions to the point it can be a little repetitive but this was rare in my opinion so it did not ruin the experience whatsoever. Would absolutely recommend others to read or at least give a chance!
I love shatter me and all, but why does it completely overshadow this series, which is just as good, and maybe even better than shatter me? Not only has the writing improved immensely from shatter me, but the world and characters are so fleshed out. From the very beginning I was hooked and each plot twist had my jaw dropped. the world is so magical and so many lines had me giggling. I NEED this series to get more hype why do I never see anyone talk about it
