Beautiful and lyrical. Reading this book gave me the feeling of being wrapped in a warm hug. The setting, the characters, and yes, the octopus were beautifully imagined and well-written.

This was such a great book!! The narration from the old lady’s perspective, the young man’s, and the Pacific octopus’s made for such a great story. The unraveling mystery and budding relationship from multiple points of view painted a much fuller picture than anything from just one single narrator. It reminded me a lot of The Collected Regrets of Clover and The Berry Pickers, which were both 5 star reads from my past 6 months. Loved it!!!

Finally gave in - this book has been on my radar for years. BookTok, Libby, Kindle, etc. I was leery - really an octopus as a main character? But this delivered. It tugged at all of my heartstrings, and I was cheering for every character the entire time. I loved how everyone truly had a happy ending.
Surprisingly, Marcellus’ release did not bring me to tears, which would have absolutely made this a 5 star read.
